Luciana was born in Rome by her parents - Luciana's father was Manlio Paoluzzi who was an Italian military officer. Her maternal grandmother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was once one of Benito Mussolini's mistresses. Her siblings are unknown. Luciana attended a local school before matriculating into the Scientific Academy of Milan in 1955. Luciana was one of the only women in her class. Following two years of modeling she landed the role of Three Coins in the Fountain. This was her debut. Brett Halsey, an actor himself, was her first wife. Following the wedding, in 1960 they recorded a film entitled Return to the Peyton Palace. The couple was blessed with the birth of a son called Charles born on June 13, 1961, but they divorced one year after his birth and Luciana was given custody. Luciana was involved in a romantic relationship with Tony Athony between 1962 and 1970. He was an actor and producer who had the idea by her character to write and direct this Spaghetti Western hybrid based on the character she played in the film as Green Slime.
